FAQs
How do I go into my account and edit and make changes to it?
To change or update your account information, access the login page from inlocal.com's
home page and enter your e-mail address and password you created during registration.
Begin by selecting which business you would like to edit. From there you can update
your information and change the look of your page by clicking on the tabs at the
top of the page. After editing the fields, don't forget to click update at the bottom
of the page when you are done to save the changes.
Can I edit my sub-domain?
Because we are trying to optimize your site and changing the sub-domain would cause
it to lose credibility with search engines, we do not allow users to change their
sub-domain. If you really need to change it or have a spelling error, you may e-mail
us at cs@inlocal.com.
What if I decide I don't want to be in your directory?
If you would like to close your account for any reason, you may make a request by
e-mailing us at cs@inlocal.com. To protect your
privacy, we require you to send the request via the e-mail address you used during
registration. We will then e-mail you back to confirm the cancellation.
What areas are covered by this directory?
InLocal provides unlimited, local coverage to anywhere within the United Sates.
How does my page get out where it can be seen?
Once you have registered with us, we submit your new web page to major search engines
like Google, Yahoo, msn, and Ask. If you boost your profile, your business information
will be submitted to several yellow page directories (yellowpages.com, etc) and
local search engine sites (Google Local, Yahoo Local, etc). You can also see your
site by clicking on the link in our directory or by typing your URL directly into
your web browser:
(ie www.inlocal.com/bl/yourbiz).
I looked for my site online where it should have been and could not find it. How
will customers find me?
Search engine optimization takes time but your business should eventually show up
in the results on major search engines. When potential customers type in keywords
that describe your business, within your area, your business should show up and
we help make that happen. A major factor is the key words people use when searching
the web. If there are many other businesses who do the same thing as you do, higher
placement is more difficult to achieve.
I just created an account and am wondering how long it takes before it is up and
running?
Within forty-eight hours your site will be approved and added to our directory and
you may share your link with anyone. As part of the approval process, you may receive
a phone call to verify your information. Being seen on search engines will take
time and the length varies depending on the type of business. As more people sign
up and InLocal gets more exposure, your site will move up in the rankings (so don't
forget to share inlocal.com with others you think would appreciate our free service).
I'm having trouble logging in to my account.
Make sure you are using your full email address as your user name when logging in.
Your password should have been emailed to you during your signup process. If you
can't remember your password, you can click the Forgot Password? link on the login
page and a temporary password will be mailed to you. If you still continue to have
problems, please e-mail us at cs@inlocal.com.
